Working in the UK

If you are a student visa holder on a full-time course, you can undertake employment in the UK. Undergraduate students can take part-time employment during term-time (up to 20 hours per week) but can work full-time during vacation periods. Postgraduate students can work up to 20 hours be week until their official programme end-date and can work full-time once they have completed their programme. For more information, please see our information on working during your studies.

If you are studying a programme which is less than six months and you have obtained a Standard Visitor visa for study, you will not be permitted to work in the UK.

Please note that these restrictions on employment apply both to paid work and voluntary work.
