Dr Mitch Robertson is an Associate Lecturer in US History at UCL. His research focuses on modern political history of the United States, with a particular emphasis on the role played by non-elected actors in the US political system. Robertson is currently completing a book, provisionally entitled The Afterlife of the Great Society, which details how bureaucrats, public interest lawyers, Congressional staffers, and District Court judges–often in concert with each other–protected and expanded Great Society programs during the Nixon administration. In addition to his academic work, Robertson has provided commentary for the Washington PostBBC World Service, BBC News, BBC Oxford RadioFrance24, and Euronews. Before coming to UCL, Robertson taught at the University of Oxford, Queen Mary, University of London, and the University of Melbourne. He completed his DPhil in History at Oxford.
