Child Trauma and Recovery Research Group

Welcome to the UCL Child Trauma and Recovery Research Group, led by Dr Rachel Hiller from the Department of Clinical, Educational and Health Psychology. The Child Trauma and Recovery Research Group uses mixed-methods approaches to improve how we understand and support the trauma-related mental health needs of children and young people, with a particular focus on children who have contact with child protection systems or experience of the care system. We work alongside young people, caregivers and services to understand drivers of mental health and wellbeing and to test new and existing models of support and intervention. Our research includes a focus on posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and complex PTSD, as well as broader mental health and wellbeing. From our research we also develop resources to help to improve understanding of trauma-related mental health difficulties and how these can be best supported.
