This research project aims to find out more about deaf/HoH students’ experiences at UCL through conducting a survey and setting up focus groups. With support and guidance from members of the research team, you will be responsible for developing and disseminating a survey for deaf/HoH undergraduate students at UCL. You will also be asked to run focus groups to gauge a deeper insight into deaf/HoH students’ experiences at UCL. You will need to put together the results of the survey and focus groups and formulate a report that outlines recommendations by deaf/HoH students to improve their experiences at UCL.

This work will require 26 hours of your time (around 1-2 hours a week for a period of 4-5 months). You will be paid for your time. For this role, you need to be deaf/HoH and preferably an undergraduate student, however applications from postgraduate students are welcome. You do not need any previous experience.

You will be working with Dr Kate Rowley (project lead), Prof. Kearsy Cormier, Calum Medlock and Frances Lewin. All team members are a part of the Deafness, Cognition & Language Research Centre (DCAL), a world-renowned research centre that explores language and cognition in deaf people of all ages.

To apply, you will need to send a short expression of interest in this position to Dr Kate Rowley on kate.rowley@ucl.ac.uk by 5pm on Wednesday 15th November 2023. You will be asked to attend a short 15-minute online interview on Tuesday 21st November 2023.
