Legal experiments

We are interested in how lawyers and laypeople decide legal cases. We have created some realistic cases for you to consider. Once you have decided a case and given your reasons, you will be able to see how other people decided and the reasons they gave. You can remain anonymous, but we will ask for some information about you (eg whether you are a lawyer and how much experience you have).

Experiments

  • R v XXX [link] A prosecution in the Magistrates’ Court for dog fouling.
  • AAA v BBB [link] A claim in the Employment Tribunals for deductions from wages.

Further information

These cases have been designed by Professor David Lagnado and Paul Troop.
