The aristocracy’s casual attitude to sex in Bridgerton, set in 1814, is not inaccurate as “The aristocracy during that time were promiscuous whereas Austen’s [middle class] subjects were ‘sexually prim’,” says Professor John Mullan (UCL English Language & Literature).
