Archaeological find reveals startling Anglo-Saxon custom

In a new study of a teenage girl’s skull dating to the 8th century, Honorary Research Associate Garrard Cole (UCL Archaeology) explains her skull shows injuries consistent with scalping and facial disfigurement, a punishment for theft and adultery in that time period.
