President of Turkmenistan unveils giant statue of favourite dog

Dr Brian Klaas (UCL School of European Languages, Culture & Society) explains that while the giant statue of a dog in Turkmenistan seems odd, it’s relatively common for dictators to build monuments to seemingly absurd things in order to assert their primacy.
