Universities may have to provide catch up classes if oral language GCSE exam is removed

With reports the oral element of foreign language GCSEs could be scrapped in 2021, Professor Mary Richardson (UCL Institute of Education) says this suggests learning to speak languages ‘doesn’t matter anymore’. Other experts say universities may have to provide catch-up classes.
