Professor Margaret Burbidge, who explored the universe’s distant reaches, dies at 100

Ground-breaking astrophysicist, Professor Margaret Burbidge, who studied at UCL and worked at the UCL Observatory during WWII, has died in at home in San Francisco aged 100. Her research shed light on distant galaxies, mysterious quasars and the origins of chemical elements.
