MRI scans in research led by Professor Sophie Scott (UCL Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience) reveal that professional beatboxers' and guitarists' brains respond to music according to their specialism - guitarists ‘hand areas’ react, whereas beatboxers' ‘mouth area' is activated.
