Welcome to our Community of Practice Buddy Scheme

11 April 2024

The Buddy Scheme is a peer-to-peer support scheme for Professional Services staff at UCL, where staff performing similar roles across departments can support each other by sharing experiences, offering advice, listening to new ideas and working through problems.

What does the Buddy Scheme do?

The Buddy Scheme offers the opportunity for everyone in Professional Services at UCL to benefit from having a peer-to-peer support mechanism, allowing members to connect with others working in the same designations across various departments within UCL. It has proven to be very helpful as staff have been able to network with each other and understand how to handle challenging situations and tasks related to work.

The Communities of Practice Programme Administration leads the Buddy Scheme Programme.

Dates of Buddy Scheme Programme:

The scheme runs from mid-June to December every academic year.

Once matched up, the Buddies meet as and when possible – it can be face-to-face or online. There are usually six informal buddy meetings in total, although there is flexibility over the format which can be agreed between individuals. At the end of the programme, Buddies give feedback on how things have gone on for the buddy pair.

Please do inform your Line Manager when you opt-in for this scheme so that you can have the time to interact effectively with your Buddy at UCL.

To join the scheme, please fill in the application form.

How can we contact the Buddy Scheme?

You can contact us via email – one of our team members will reply as soon as possible.
