Health and Wellbeing Community of Practice Workshop Series: Term 1

4 October 2023

The Health and Wellbeing Community of Practice (H&W CoP) was established to support Health and Wellbeing at UCL and improve collaboration across campus.

Our aim is to foster an inclusive community that is supportive, compassionate, and respectful of staff and students at UCL. If you are involved in, or have interest in health and wellbeing, we would love you to join us!

Join us this term as staff take on a variety of topics, investigating different aspects of health and wellbeing, equipping us with the knowledge and tools to support students, colleagues, and ourselves. Presentations run fortnightly on Wednesdays, 12:30-1:15pm, in the form of a 30-minute virtual workshop followed by a 15-minute Q&A.

18 October: Amalia Mihailescu - Talking about Imposter Syndrome 

In this interactive session led by Bartlett Student Adviser Amalia Mihailescu, you will be learning more about imposter syndrome, the different ways in which it manifests, and the learned behaviour that leads to self-doubt and questioning the validity of your achievements. It will also explore different means of dealing with imposterism and moving forward from feelings of inadequacy.

1 November: Georgia Mann and Ben Watson - The Digital Accessibility team and what support they provide 

Knowing what digital accessibility is, and what support is available, is an important part of creating an inclusive work environment for yourself, staff and students. We'll spend this lunch and learn hour covering the basics in digital accessibility support which you can take forward into your day-to-day work

15 November: Katie Bretherick and Adella Forder-Gore - A Guide to Supporting Students at UCL 

This workshop will give a refresher of all the UCL services that are available to support our students across both the Bloomsbury and our new UCL East campus. We'll cover some supportive conversation skills to help staff feel confident when supporting with issues that may require support with and also how staff can look after their own wellbeing.

29 November: Amy York - How are we inducting and welcoming our new students? 

This session will highlight the new student journey, and all the processes, tasks and opportunities a new student will experience when they join UCL. We'll also cover how we look to evolve and improve in the future, for example improving the welcome experience for specific student groups and study levels.

13 December: Jodie Connon, Indie Beedie and Suzanne Hewings - Enabling Student Succes at UCL 

The Student Success Office delivers online resources, workshops, and student and staff facing events. It also leads on developing policy to affect institution-wide approaches and change to close attainment gaps, with a particular focus on those groups where there is an unexplained attainment gap. We take an evidence-led approach to access with a strong focus on evaluation and research.
