What’s changing?

We are launching a brand-new look and adding some helpful functions to make sure you get the most out of Moodle.
These changes have been influenced by feedback from both staff and students and include:
•    a new dashboard
•    the ‘Pick up where you left off’ feature
•    timeline and feedback notifications,
•    enhanced course navigation

Your new dashboard

Your new dashboard now has a personalised display showing your courses, assignments, forums and quizzes.

Pick up where you left off

This feature lets you resume your learning from where you were when you previously accessed Moodle, making it easier to continue your progress.

Timeline and feedback notifications

This shows your upcoming activities in chronological order. It helps you to manage your tasks efficiently by showing you important dates so that you can stay on top of deadlines.

The feedback feature brings your assignment feedback together in one place and aims to make accessing and reviewing feedback easier and clearer.

Course navigation

This is a collapsible menu that allows you to navigate your courses by giving you an overview of your course content, structure and resources. This lets you navigate between the different sections of a course, making content easier to find.

Guidance

We will be publishing a Moodle step by step guide to help you navigate the new site. This tour will appear on your first login to the upgraded Moodle site and will walk you through the new features on the dashboard.

Try out the new version of Moodle

If you would like to familiarise yourself with the new features and design of Moodle before it is released later this month, you can visit the preview site here. The preview site is an example of what the new Moodle will look like and will not affect your personal account and courses until the new version has been formally launched.

Note: the preview site may be slower to respond; however, this will not happen in the new version of Moodle when it is launched.

Share your feedback

Lastly, we would love to hear your feedback. We are specifically looking for feedback on:

  • Accessibility
  • Your user experience
  • Any other improvements

Submit your feedback through this form, or it can be found at the top of the preview site.
