Increased foot traffic around IOE during graduations, 31 August – 13 September 2022

18 August 2022

From 31 August to 13 September, UCL’s graduation ceremonies will be taking place in Logan Hall, with activity across the main IOE building at 20 Bedford Way. The building will be busier than usual during these times and in the lead-up as we prepare to welcome our visitors.

Preparations for the graduation period

On Thursday August 25 a marquee will be erected on the IOE concourse in preparation for UCL’s undergraduate graduation ceremonies. All building users and visitors are encouraged to use the entrance on 20 Bedford Way during this time.

31 August – 13 September: Graduation ceremonies

We’re expecting around 18,000 visitors to the Logan Hall over this period as students from across UCL celebrate their achievements with their friends and family.

This will mean that foot traffic around the building and entrance/exit to Level 4 via the Woburn Square concourse will be considerably busier than usual – please do be aware that it may take longer than it normally would to get around, and noise levels will be higher than usual.

The café on Level 4 will be extremely busy throughout the day and adjacent seating will be limited, so staff may not be able to use this space as a meeting point. There are various alternative cafés on Bedford Way and in the surrounding area including the UCL Psychology Level 3 café on 26 Bedford Way (open to staff and students only); alternatively the Student’s Union Institute Bar is open throughout the day and serves refreshments from 3pm.

Non-graduation building users and visitors are encouraged to use the entrance on 20 Bedford Way during this time.

A dedicated access route across the concourse to the Level 4 entrance on Woburn Square will be maintained to ensure a safe entranceway for all building users.
