This week we chat to Noorain Inam, who was born and raised in Karachi, Pakistan, and recently moved to London for her Master's at UCL. Noorain recently won this year's Bloomsbury Festival Art Competition, and chats to us here about her passion for painting.

Noorain Inam

What are you studying, why are you interested in this subject and what do you plan to do in the future?

I’m currently pursuing an Master's in Fine Art in Painting at the Slade. It’s something I’ve wanted to practice since my childhood. In the future I hope to continue to create more work, learn from others around me and be inspired every day.

What is the most interesting thing you’ve done, seen or got involved with while at UCL?

I’ve had the chance to exhibit my work in London, which has been an exciting experience.

Have you discovered any hidden gems during your time at UCL?

The people.

Give us your top three things to do/see/go to in London:

Visit galleries, see museums and just walk around the city and find a new corner.

What’s one thing you’d like to see in a post-Covid world?

I think just being together and being grateful for the moments that we can share with one another. More moments of laughter and joy.

Who inspires you and why?

My father. He taught me the value of always staying true to yourself, be it in your work or your any part of your life. Trusting yourself to carve your own path.

What would it surprise people to know about you?

I was about to be a kindergarten teacher!
