Today's Teams Tip - 19 November 2020
19 November 2020
Back to an update on Teams this week. Microsoft are continuing to make improvements to the set-up options available when organising a meeting in Teams.
Some of the recent developments include the ability to:
- hold UCL people (not just external delegates) in a lobby area to ensure no one else can start your meeting early
- ultimate mute control - you can decide whether attendees can, or cannot unmute their mics (Top Tip: if using this setting, make sure you have also designated your presenters for the meeting).
And you may have noticed the recent appearance of an ‘End meeting for all’ button available for organisers, which makes ending a meeting much quicker and easier.
To learn more about these developments, or for an in-depth walk through all the Meeting options available in Teams and how to access and enable them, please read our helpful article.
Staff suggestion
We also received a suggestion via the Psychiatry department which can help with moderating your Teams usage. If you would rather choose when to open Teams as opposed to have it start up by default, right click on the Teams icon in the system tray at the bottom of your screen, got to ‘Settings’ and untick ‘Auto-start application’.
For further information about using Teams effectively, please have a look at the Teams SharePoint site. If you have any tips for using Teams which have really helped you make the most of the product, please email isd-webcomms@ucl.ac.uk or post your tip on Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #teamstips. If you are having any specific issues with the set-up of Teams, please contact the IT Services Desk directly who are best placed to help you.
