The Chief of Staff to the President & Provost is a new post established to provide senior advisory support and to assist in coordinating UCL’s senior team.

Clare will be moving into this role from June. She is currently Director of Education Planning, leading the Vice-Provost (Education & Student Affairs) team and working closely with the Vice-Provost, Professor Anthony Smith, on strategic planning for UCL’s education agenda. This includes responsibility for the institutional education strategy and the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF).

Clare has worked at UCL for 14 years in various education-related roles. She was the lead officer on the establishment of the UCL Academy school in Camden in 2012, and was a founding Trustee of the UCL Academy.

Prior to joining UCL, Clare worked on the National Languages Strategy at the Department for Education and before that in the charities sector.

UCL President & Provost, Michael Arthur, said:

“I’m absolutely delighted to welcome Clare as the new Chief of Staff and very much look forward to working with her. Clare has been at the forefront of some of UCL’s most exciting and innovative developments during the time she has been here, and brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the role.”
