Pop-up Library: 150 extra study spaces for main exam period
13 March 2019
Main Quad to be exclusively for study; SSEES and IOE Libraries opening hours extended; Students’ Union to run the Garden Room Chill Out Zone
The Main Quad teaching block will be transformed into study areas for all UCL students from 1 April to the end of May, providing 150 extra study spaces every weekday.
Pop-Up Library builds on initiatives in 2017 and 2018, which secured temporary additional study space throughout exams.
Look out for the Pop-Up Library campaign, which will help you make best use of the study space available, signposting available space, directing you to lesser used libraries and reinforcing the community values of UCL Library Services’ ongoing ‘Share the Space’ campaign.
Main Quad Pop-Up Library: open 9am-7pm on weekdays from 1 April
The Main Quad teaching block will be reserved exclusively for study, giving you access to more study spaces from 1 April 2018 until near the end of the main exam period on 31 May. The spaces, which will open from 9am to 7pm, Monday to Friday, will be managed by UCL Library Services staff.
Lower Refectory to open 24/7 for study
The Lower Refectory will remain open as a learning space twenty four hours a day, seven days a week from the same date (even while Sodexo aren't serving). This will provide an extra 300 spaces and will be managed by UCL Security from 9pm to 7am each weekday and from 9pm Friday until 7am Monday.
From 9pm on Fridays UCL Security will open Lower Refectory and then close the Pop-Up Library spaces.
SSEES and IOE Libraries opening hours extended
In addition, from 25 March until 31 May SSEES Library will be open 24 hours per day; and IOE Library will open from Monday 8:30am until Saturday 9pm, Sunday 11am–9pm.
Student Centre open 24/7
The Student Centre, with more than 1,000 study spaces, is open all day every day.
Once again, Students’ Union UCL will create a Chill Out Zone in the Garden Room, a strictly stress-free space complete with soothing music and massage chairs and a programme of events. Weekdays 11–4pm.
