Test out our Introductory Programme for new students and earn £20

Come to our workshop on Saturday 9 February and try out our interactive online Programme for new students. It’s aimed at helping new students who have accepted their places get an idea of what it’s like to be at UCL, and feel informed, welcomed and excited before they arrive.
 
We’ve been developing the Programme and now we want your important feedback to test if it’s working properly, to find out if it’s inclusive, and to learn how it could be improved. What we hear from you at the workshop will help us shape the final version of the Introductory Programme.

All UCL students welcome

Undergraduate and postgraduate students are welcome, whatever stage you’re at. In a fun interactive session, you’ll help us to make UCL a more welcoming and inclusive place, and you’ll probably learn some interesting facts about your university at the same time!
 
We’ll also ask you to tell us about your own experience when you first arrived, and how you think we can make it better.

What’s in the Introductory Programme?

The Introductory Programme centres around a number of 'objects' (people, places or artefacts) in and around UCL, and through telling the stories behind these objects, we aim to provide our new students with a feeling of place and belonging before they arrive here. As they explore, they’ll find out where our main buildings are in Bloomsbury, get information about UCL facilities and support services, and learn some fascinating stories and facts about UCL. 

New ways of thinking

The Programme also aims to introduce students to new ways of thinking that they may not have encountered before, to help prepare them for how subjects are taught at university. It includes an interactive map, interesting stories, and lots of facts and images, and interactive elements like quizzes and polls.
 
Future participants will also be able to meet virtually, connect and communicate with each other. And once they’ve arrived, we’ll arrange for them to meet up in groups for one final challenge!

The workshop

Saturday 9 February (first weekend of Reading Week)
10:30am-4:30pm
Venue: Cruciform Lecture Theatre 1

At the workshop you will:
•    find out about the Programme and our plans for improving the welcome experience
•    use your own mobile phones/laptops/tablets to work through part of the programme
•    do some group activities
•    give us your feedback on the Programme and tell us about your own experience when you first arrived.
