2 July 2018

Ramsay Hall and Ian Baker House will both be open for the academic year 2018/19, offering additional accommodation to UCL students.

The decision was taken to suspend planned refurbishment works at Ramsay Hall, due to begin this summer, following a review of the construction proposals.

Director of UCL Accommodation, Duncan Palmer said: "While we reconsider the full scope of works for the project, it was the logical decision to keep Ramsay Hall and Ian Baker House open providing much needed catered and self-catered accommodation for our students in the Bloomsbury area.

"In line with our 2018/19 rent strategy, UCL will also reduce the rents on the accommodation element at Ramsay Hall by 5%, bringing the total number of rooms that UCL have reduced the rents on to 1127 for the upcoming academic year."

Andrew Grainger, Director of UCL Estates said: "We can confirm that refurbishment work has been put on hold for this once in a lifetime development opportunity in the heart of Bloomsbury. UCL is committed to providing value for money in the development of our estate and we aim to work efficiently and effectively, giving our students the best possible facilities to study and live. The better our value for money, the more we can invest into our estate and the more we can improve services."
