Student Residence Adviser positions available

16 February 2017

UCL Student and Registry Services is currently looking to recruit a number of Student Residence Advisers (formerly Vice Wardens) for the academic session 2017/18.

Student Residences Advisor positions available

These are voluntary positions, where the role holder is expected to reside within one of the student residences. A single room is offered free of charge, in return for being 'on call' for emergencies on a rota basis during evenings and weekends when the site offices are shut - on average not more than one shift in three.

The role holder is required to carry a mobile phone when on duty and respond to call outs. They must maintain order, promote a good social atmosphere and may need to advise students with pastoral problems. The positions commence on 1 August 2017 and are for an initial one-year period.

Eligibility

Candidates must be graduate students registered full time at University College London with the expectation of at least one-year's study remaining from August 2017. They must ensure that they are not planning to be away for long periods of time during the contract period

The closing date for applications is March 7.

Please note the following important information for international students: as this is voluntary work, students on a Tier 4 visa will need to ensure they comply with the 20 hours in a rolling week work limit. This post is therefore best suited to those students who do not teach or take on other paid or voluntary work, or at the least do this for no more than 10 hours per week.
