London ice hockey varsity - UCL Yetis vs Imperial Devils

22 February 2017

The annual showdown between the Imperial Devils and UCL Yetis is back! The UCL ice hockey team would like to invite all staff, students and alumni to their match against Imperial College London.

Annual Ice Hockey Varsity: UCL versus Imperial

The game will be held on Friday 3 March at Streatham Ice Arena (SW16 6HX). Doors open at 7pm.

Tickets are on sale now - the early bird price of just £5 for students is available on the UCLU website.

This match promises to be with a hotly contested affair with over 1,000 spectators expected.

Last year's Ice Varsity was a particularly violent affair, and the most recent league game between these two teams saw a 12-11 win for UCL in one of the closest and most exciting matches of the season.

League leaders

League leaders UCL come into varsity this year undefeated this season and are looking to win their third varsity in a row for a three-peat. A highly experienced team is lead at the back by Swede Gabriel Sjstrom - the top keeper in southern England. Up front, Captain Guido de Boer leads the country in scoring, followed by GB international Chris Fox and David Person rounding out the top three forwards.

Imperial come into the game with a much strengthened team including GB international Andreas Sigaris as well as star captain Gus Zimmerman. Both teams boast strong sets of defensive players; this is likely to be a bruising, physical encounter.

Come down to the Olympic-sized Streatham Ice Arena on 3 March at 7:30pm and see ice hockey as it's meant to be; with beer, hotdogs, figure skaters, goals, hits and fights in front of a packed out arena.
