Researchers from the
ESRC-MRC funded

project (Research on Extending Working Lives) have
shown how working conditions can influence retirement timing among older
workers. Based on data from the English Longitudinal Study of Ageing, Dr Carr
and colleagues found that workers with high job control or who felt their work
was adequately recognised, preferred to retire later and were less likely to
stop working. The full results are
published in the European Journal of
Ageing.
