UCL 2034 strategy approved

17 July 2014

UCL Council at its meeting on 8 July approved the final draft of the UCL 2034 strategy, which is now available to view on-line at

The final strategy incorporates feedback from a wide-ranging engagement exercise with staff, students and key supporters, including open consultation events, a web consultation, engagement with UCL Union and individual comments from members of the UCL community.

The Provost's Senior Management Team has started work on the development of an implementation plan, to include a series of specific objectives and measures to support each Principal Theme and Key Enabler.

The UCL 2034 website is the primary means by which the strategy will be communicated across UCL and beyond. Each Principal Theme and Enabler has its own section, with links to the key objectives outlined in the top level strategy; an outline of the approach that will be taken to implementation; some case studies to highlight current activity; and performance measures. The website will be updated on a regular basis to show progress, and more engaging imagery and audio/visual content will be developed.

Professor Michael Arthur UCL President & Provost said:

"Council approval for our new 20-year strategy is a great way to finish the academic year, and I'm grateful to everyone who took part in the engagement process.

It is quite an achievement for the organisation to develop a new strategy within a year, and that has only been possible due to the commitment of those involved and the really high quality contributions from across the UCL community."
