UCL and Dev Lab launch App Lab at Mobile World Congress 2014
26 February 2014
UCL, along with its technology partner DevLab, is launching two new initiatives at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this week - App Lab and UXCam.
The UCL DECIDE team - UCL's user-testing initiative - has been demonstrating the capabilities of the university's App Lab, which is thought to be the world's largest 'living lab' for digital and media projects, during the Congress, which is the largest event of its kind in the world.
The Lab provides access to UCL's community of 32,000 students and staff taking part in testing and evaluating digital products throughout pre-commercial development.
The partners will also showcase UXCam, an innovative tool delivering in-depth analytics to developers, during the Congress. The software tool takes the guesswork out of UX evaluation and testing and allows developers to see exactly how people are interacting with their app, simply by dropping a line of code into an app's build. This level of detailed analytics helps developers make data-driven decisions to create the best possible user experience.
Timothy Barnes, Director of UCL Advances - the university's centre for entrepreneurship - said: "It's great to be at MWC with DevLab and to share the innovations UCL has developed to an audience of developers. We are focused on supporting the developer community to build better digital products and look forward to meeting a new audience of developers
Calypso Harland, Founder and CEO at DevLab, added: "This is an incredibly exciting time for DevLab as we launch two unrivalled tools to market. We can't wait to see both App Lab and UXCam put into play at MWC. The intelligence these tools provide will be a real game-changer for a lot of developers and will help improve the quality of apps being released to market - a winning situation for everyone."
