Professor Sir John Tooke reappointed as a non-executive director of UCLH

Sir John, Vice Provost (Health) and Head of the School of Life & Medical Sciences was appointed to the UCLH board in February 2010.
Richard Murley, UCLH chairman, said: "I am very pleased that the governors have re-confirmed John Tooke as a non-executive director. We are very lucky to be able to benefit from his wisdom and experience - he has been very helpful in reinforcing our crucially important ties with UCL."
Sir John added: "I am delighted to have been reappointed to the Board of such an exceptional Trust and look forward to continuing to work with colleagues to further the organisation's aims."
Sir John joined UCL in 2009 from the Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry which he led from inception. He was a Wellcome Trust senior lecturer in Medicine and Physiology and honorary consultant physician at Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School before moving to Exeter in 1987. John is the immediate past chair of the Medical Schools Council and the UK Healthcare Education Advisory Committee. In 2011 he was elected president of the Academy of Medical Sciences and is a member of the Council for Science and Technology.
He chairs the UCLH Quality and Safety Committee.
