The Special Grand Rounds highlight our commitment to the whole translational pathway from basic discovery through to impact on patients and population.
Dr Dave Spratt (UCL Eastman Dental Institute) started proceedings with a presentation of his recent work in the field of microbial ecology. Professor Jonathan Knowles (UCL Eastman Dental Institute) then spoke about the exciting possibilities in biomaterials for tissue regeneration. Professor Nikolaos Donos, (UCL Eastman Dental Institute) outlined the association between periodontal\oral diseases and chronic diseases and Professor Richard Watt (Institute of Epidemiology & Health) demonstrated the impact of social inequalities to oral health.
The speakers were joined by Dr Sean Nair, Professor Brian Henderson, Professor Stephen Porter and Professor Ian Needleman (all UCL Eastman Dental Institute) and Chair Professor Raymond MacAllister (UCL Division of Medicine) for a lively Q and A
