UCL News podcast - 3 May 2012
3 May 2012
UCL News has launched a new podcast to give you the opportunity to listen to the latest news and research from around UCL every fortnight.
On this podcast we have a selection of the most recent UCL headlines, along with UCL graduate Chester Mojay-Sinclare talking about student entrepreneurship, and Jack Ashby, Manager of the UCL Grant Museum of Zoology, telling us about their new exhibition, Buried on Campus.
Part 1 - News
News stories include a new report from the UCL School of Pharmacy which has refuted the view that older people are a major source of economic problems.
We also talk about the UCL Slade School of Fine Art's latest Turner prize nominee, and celebrate the 50th anniversary of the launch of the satellite Ariel 1, which heralded the UK's first tentative steps into space.
Part 2 - Buried on Campus
In 2010, construction workers were building an access trench in the UCL quad and they came across a large collection of human remains. After the police established that it wasn't of criminal interest, forensic anthropologists Wendy Birch and Christine King worked with the Grant Museum to put together this exhibition about what the collection is, why it was buried, and what we can learn from it. Clare went down to the museum along with Nick Dawe, UCL Digital Media Manager, to find out more.
Part 3 - Student entrepreneurship & Charity Checkout
On this week's podcast Henry Rummins, Media Relations Manager for Enterprise, chats to budding entrepreneur Chester Mojay-Sinclare about his company Charity Checkout, and the challenge of starting up a new business in the current economic climate.
