'UCL Sound' features audio recordings of Lunch Hour Lectures, a bi-weekly news podcast and interviews with famous comedians by a UCL student, amongst many other things. It currently has just under 90,000 followers, more than any other university in the world.
The latest project is 'UCL Soundscapes', a series of fly-on-the-wall
field recordings that capture some of the university's ambient sounds, from the
traffic of Gower Street to the hush in the Main Library. Suggestions from the
UCL community for new locations are highly encouraged.
Rob Eagle, UCL Multimedia Producer, told SoundCloud: "So many universities rely just on Facebook or just on YouTube, I think for us we can really vary up the stories we can tell [by using SoundCloud]. There's a whole different way of thinking when you're working with sound."
SoundCloud was founded
in Berlin in 2007. It has more than 180 million monthly users and is one of the 25
most-visited websites on the internet. For more information about UCL Sound, or
to suggest contributions, email Rob Eagle.
