Shape-Up groups for UCL staff

1 August 2012

If you would like to manage your weight and improve your health by making long lasting changes to your lifestyle, you might be interested in the Shape-Up programme.

The charity Weight Concern (based at UCL) will be running 3 separate Shape-Up groups for UCL staff starting the first week of September 2012.  Shape-Up is an eight week group-based, weight management programme. Each group has 12-15 participants, and members of the group are encouraged to actively participate in discussions each week.

The Shape-Up programme was developed by psychologists, dieticians and physical activity experts and follows an evidence-based, behavioural approach to weight management.  It encourages people to make lasting changes to their lifestyle, and helps them to think differently about food and physical activity.

If you are interested in joining a Shape-Up group, we ask you to attend an Open Information session.  This will be held at lunchtime on Wednesday 15th August in the UCL building: 1-19 Torrington Place, WC1E 7HB (further details on timings etc. will be provided once you register).

It would be great to see you at one of these sessions so that you can hear more about Shape-Up's approach to weight management and if it is right for you.

Please let us know if you would like to come to an Open Information session by sending an email to enquiries@weightconcern.org.uk.  Please indicate in your email which day suits you better to attend the Open Information session (Thursday 9th or Wednesday 15 August at lunchtime).
