The UCL Mail Services team has now added bespoke bulk mailing services and a recorded internal delivery service to its mailing services.

Steve Shine, UCL Mail Services Manager, explained: "We are able to use our expertise and experience of the current mail market to employ the best possible rates and save UCL departments significant amounts of money. Since January 2011 we have made savings of over £80,000 for various departments."

UCL Mail Services is equipped to handle any size of size bulk mailing and can provide some bespoke services such as an internal special delivery round for particularly sensitive items of post around UCL's campuses and laboratories that require signature on delivery.

They also collect, process and deliver urgent medical samples daily to UCL Medical Units. Keith Miller (UCL Pathology) said: "We regularly have cancer patient cases sent to us at UCL-Advanced Diagnostics via the Royal Mail. Steve Shine and his team provide an excellent and vital service by ensuring these packages reach us directly as a matter of priority. This speeds up the process enormously, meaning we can perform the necessary tests and dispatch the same day."
