CABE Enabling panel

Dr Pushpa Arabindoo (UCL Geography) has been appointed to the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) enabling panel.

CABE advises the UK government on architecture, urban design and public space. It runs a panel of specialist enablers who offer expert advice and support to organisations involved in projects for the built environment.

The CABE panel comprises over a hundred professionals, including architects, urban designers, planners, engineers, property  and quantity surveyors. Enablers are appointed as consultants to CABE through an open and competitive process during which time leading professionals are invited to apply. The first appointments were made in 2001, with a second intake in 2004, and the latest in 2009.

Dr Arabindoo commented: "As an enabler, I will be contributing part of my time to CABE by giving strategic advice to public sector clients towards the delivery of better buildings and places for all. Before taking the lectureship at UCL, I worked as an urban designer in the UK urban regeneration sector, producing masterplans for several cities and towns including Sheffield and Glasgow. Combining this experience with the research knowledge that I acquire through my current academic position, I hope to bring a unique insight to this role."
