Shell Springboard win for Carbon8 Systems

Carbon8 Systems Ltd, a company co-founded and directed by Professor Stefaan Simons (UCL Chemical Engineering), has been announced as overall winner of Shell Springboard 2008.
Shell Springboard is a fund that provides awards of up to £40,000 to small businesses that have potentially commercial ideas for products and services contributing to combating climate change. This year there were 132 entries nationwide, from which 24 businesses were shortlisted.
The award was presented by Lord Oxburgh (Chairman of Shell) and Professor John Beddington, Government Chief Scientific Adviser.
Carbon8 won for its accelerated carbonation technology that treats waste materials using carbon dioxide and produces reusable artificial aggregate.
