  • How to make a bid
  • This year's UCL Research Challenges competition has entered its second phase, with researchers from across UCL invited to submit bids for funding ranging from £2,000 to £25,000.

Unlike last year, when bids were based around five themes, this year's competition is open to researchers working in any area. However, Jo Wolff, chair of the Research Challenges Board, has said that the board would be particularly interested to receive bids on the theme of London.

Research proposals need to be innovative ideas that draw researchers from more than one faculty, and which arre not yet a candidate for external funding. The aim of the seed fund awards from UCL Research Challenges is to help projects prepare for applications for more significant external funds at a later date.

The deadline for bids is 15 June 2008. Applications should be made on a single side of A4 (minimum 10 point font), sent to Professor Jo Wolff, chair of the UCL Research Challenges Board.
