  • Four new leaflets on aspects of the philosophy of Jeremy Bentham (1748-1832), the spiritual founder of UCL, are available from the UCL Bentham Project.

Titles include 'The Common End of Every Person's Education is Happiness' and 'Religion is an Engine, Invented by Corruptionists, at The Command of Tyrants, for the Manufactory of Dupes'. The new four leaflets are part of a set of six, complemented by 'A Bentham Walk', an illustrated walking guide to Bentham's London.

Produced with the support of UCL Futures, the annual-giving programme for alumni and friends of the university, the leaflets are available in print and as pdf files.

The aim of the UCL Bentham Project is to produce a new scholarly edition of the works and correspondence of the influential jurist, philosopher and social scientist, described by historian A J P Taylor as "the most formidable reasoner who ever applied his gifts to the practical questions of administration and politics".
