New owners plan to bring the Hammer House of Horror - the British film company behind such cult horror classics as Dracula, The Mummy and The Curse of Frankenstein - back from the dead.
The new owners say they plan to reinvigorate the beloved British brand with a new wave of horror movies for cinema and TV. …
But will Hammer-type films appeal to a new generation raised on the likes of The Blair Witch Project?
Dr Kasia Boddy [UCL English Language & Literature], a film expert, said Hammer films had a special mix of gore, black humor and campy sexiness that might draw young viewers.
"I think younger movie goers will be interested," she said. "I guess the horror industry, like every other, constantly needs to introduce something new - even if the new thing is old."
