UCL Research Challenges: End of stage one

18 April 2007

UCL Research Challenges, the initiative to develop new ideas for research from across the UCL community, has finished its first stage - having received 53 suggestions for research themes.

Suggestions are now closed, but everyone is still welcome to comment on the suggestions that have come in. The Research Challenges Board will meet to decide which themes to invite research proposals for over the coming weeks, and results will be announced on 1 May. Researchers interested in developing projects on the selected themes will then be invited to apply to the board for seedcorn funding.

Professor Jo Wolff, who chairs the board, said: "It is wonderful to see the range of suggestions that have been made; by staff, students and alumni. Some have generated lively discussion. It will be a tough job for the Board to decide which should go forward to the next stage."
