UCL Bartlett features in CNN documentary

24 April 2007

The UCL Bartlett School of Architecture is to feature in CNN's popular documentary series 'Quest'.

In a bid to build his own architectural wonder, the programme's host, Richard Quest approached the Bartlett to become an architectural student for the day.

Quest joined diploma students studying under Professor Colin Fournier and David Ardill to produce a proposal for the Serpentine Gallery Pavilion in Hyde Park. Each student explained their scheme before Quest took a hands-on approach through drawing, computer modelling and model making in the Bartlett's workshop. The day culminated in a jury, which saw the TV presenter and his fellow students present their proposals to a panel led by Professor Fournier. The panel included the UCL Bartlett's chair, Professor Christine Hawley, and its head, Professor Iain Borden, as well as a number of guest critics from various London architecture practices.

Professor Borden said of the event: "We are delighted that CNN and Richard Quest chose to visit the Bartlett, and we hope that he enjoyed our famously invigorating approach to architecture."

The programme, which also features eminent architects, will be broadcast on Saturday 28 April and again on Sunday 29 April. For more information, use the links at the top of this article.
