The prestigious prize was awarded to Dr Ashiagbor, an expert in EU law, for her first book 'The European Employment Strategy: Labour Market Regulation and New Governance', published in 2005.

UCL Laws academics have claimed this prize for three years in succession. In 2004, Dr Sean Coyle and his co-author Karen Morrow won second prize for their book 'The Philosophical Foundations of Environmental Law: Property, Rights and Nature', and in 2005, Jane Holder was the joint second prize-winner for her book 'Environmental Assessment: The Regulation of Decision Making'.

Head of UCL Laws Professor Ian Dennis said: "I am delighted for Diamond on this most splendid achievement. It is really excellent news for her and for the department. These achievements illustrate the strength of the faculty and the quality of the work being done here."
