Alumni event in Greece

19 October 2006

An alumni reception was held at the Grande Bretagne hotel in Athens on 12 October 2006, providing an opportunity for members of the UCL community in Greece to get to know one another.

The event was attended by Professor Wendy Davies (Pro-Provost for Europe) and James Davis (Head of Alumni Relations). James outlined the opportunities for guests to become involved in a volunteer capacity as local alumni ambassadors or student recruitment contacts. Dr Areti Mizara (Geography 1993) then spoke on plans for developing future alumni activities, followed by Professor Davies, who updated alumni on developments at UCL including UCL's profile and recent achievements.

The event was attended by over 200 alumni. Plans were also set in motion for future events in Athens and for activities in the North of the country.

The UCL Alumni Greece Group was established in 1999 following a meeting in Athens to elect a committee to manage the group. Receptions were held in 2000 and 2001 at the British Ambassador's residence in Athens, with each event attracting many hundreds of alumni.

For more information about the activities of the group, contact Dr Areti Mizara. To find out more about the UCL Alumni network, follow the link at the bottom of this article.
