National Student Survey 2007 - Deadline for opt-out

7 November 2006

Preparations are underway for the 2007 National Student Survey (NSS), which all final-year undergraduates will be asked to complete next term.

The NSS is an opportunity to give feedback on all aspects of university life including:

  • course teaching
  • assessment and feedback
  • academic support
  • organisation and management
  • learning resources
  • personal development.

The survey is commissioned by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) and is administered by IPSOS UK, an independent research agency. IPSOS UK will be contacting students next term inviting them to complete the survey. Those students who do not respond will be sent a postal questionnaire to their term-time address and may also be contacted by telephone.

UCL will shortly send all the required contact details for final-year students to IPSOS UK. Please see Professor Michael Worton's recent email to final-year undergraduates for more details. HEFCE and IPSOS UK have given UCL a guarantee that the student contact details will only be used for purposes associated with the NSS and will not be passed on to third parties or commercial concerns.

Students who do not wish their details to be passed on to IPSOS UK, should email Rob Traynor, Academic Services, giving their name and department no later than 5pm on 14 November 2006. Their contact details will not be sent to IPSOS UK and they will not be asked to participate in the survey next term.
