Doin' the Bentham Walk

21 March 2006

A pamphlet outlining a Bentham Walk, from Westminster to UCL that takes in parts of the capital related to Jeremy Bentham, UCL's spiritual founder, has been published.

The route, starting at Westminster School, which Bentham attended from 1755, and ending at the Jeremy Bentham pub on University Street, is 4km in length. It takes in sights such as Bentham's statue at Burlington House, and the Auto-Icon at UCL's Gower Street site.

Copies of the leaflet will be distributed at the John Stuart Mill conference, to be held at UCL from 5-7 April 2006. James Mill and his family rented a house from Bentham at 40 Queen Anne's Gate in Westminster, which is a feature of the walk.

The walk can also be downloaded via the link at the bottom of this article.
