Stars turn out for UCL English film event

1 June 2006

On 16 June, UCL English will be holding an alumni event on the theme of films, film adaptations and film-making at UCL.

Guests at the event include the distinguished actor and writer Diana Quick, much-admired writer Fay Weldon, documentary-maker Mat Whitecross, whose work has recently featured heavily on Channel 4, and the renowned film critic, Jim Smith. They will join UCL English's John Mullan, Phil Horne, Pete Swaab and Lee Grieveson, in two panel discussions. The day will end with an evening reception.

After a welcome from Head of UCL English Professor Henry Woudhuysen at 2pm, discussions will take place in Lecture Theatre 1 in the Cruciform Building, Gower Street. The reception will be held in the North Cloisters of the main quad from 6-9pm.

UCL English alumni events provide a great opportunity to revisit the subject, and to meet up with old friends, past and present teaching staff, and current students.

The event is sponsored by Waterstone's, whose branch on Gower Street is offering a 15% discount on all purchases made on the day by pre-registered ticket-holders.

Tickets can be obtained via a form on the departmental website. Applications must be in by 9 June.
