New behavioural and social sciences journal launched

11 December 2003

A new international journal - Social Theory & Health - has been launched by academics from UCL's Centre for Behavioural & Social Sciences in Medicine and Emory University, Atlanta, USA.

The 'Social Theory and Health' journal

Edited by the centre's Professor Graham Scambler and Dr Paul Higgs, and Professor Richard Levinson from Emory University, the journal's mission is to encourage colleagues in the behavioural and social sciences to build bridges between theory and empirical research in the health domain.

Professor Scambler said: "The theorization of health issues is crucial both for understanding and as a guide for action. By providing a forum for academics and practitioners to engage with the theoretical development of the health debate, the journal aims to develop the theoretical underpinnings of health research and service delivery."
