September the 11th and after: reflections on the war against terrorism

Sir Michael was appointed the first Professor of War Studies at King's College London during the 1950's. He then moved to Oxford and from there was appointed the Robert A. Lovett Chair of Military and Naval History at Yale. Sir Michael has written a number of books, most recently The Invention of Peace, published in 2001.

The Provost's Lecture Series provides a platform for internationally renowned speakers to address a distinguished audience on issues of major interest. The lectures contribute to UCL's mission to understand the past, challenge the present and help shape the future.

Speaking in advance of the Tuesday lecture, the Provost and President of UCL, Professor Sir Chris Llewellyn Smith said:
