Research Summary
In my PhD, I worked on surface modification of aluminium to achieve multifaceted applications ranging from superhydrophobicity to antibacterial activity. We have explored graphene-based nanomaterials (GNMs) as an efficient coating on metallic surfaces to combat bacterial proliferation. Further, to shed light into the molecular mechanism of antibacterial activity of GNMs, we have used X-ray scattering study taking phospholipids as a model membrane system.
Currently, I am working on robust superhydrophobic coatings. The present project is an effort to fabricate water based superhydrophobic coatings through an environment-friendly green synthesis route. Here, our prime concern is to make these surfaces durable to enable applications in energy such as protection of wind turbine blades and steam condensers for power plants.
