Research summary
Nader Saffari is Professor of Ultrasonics at UCL and the head of the Ultrasonics Group. His research interests include high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) for the ablation of tumours, mathematical modelling of ultrasound (US) propagation and scattering in inhomogeneous tissues, histotripsy for intrahepatic cell delivery, US mediated neuro-modulation, US mediated drug delivery, shear wave tumour detection in the prostate and sono-dynamic antibacterial blood cleansing. The Ultrasonics Group, which he set up in 1992, has developed both a strong theoretical modelling activity and extensive experimental capabilities.
