This one-day CPD course will allow you to spend a full day practising and refreshing your skills in preparation for returning to work after a break.
Teaching staff will demonstrate and offer guidance on the most popular clinical procedures in general dentistry (excluding endodontics).
A staff-to-participant ratio of 1:5 allows the course to be tailored to individual needs.
This course is run by the UCL Eastman Dental Institute in London which has a broad range of continuing professional development (CPD) short courses. These provide hands-on training from experienced staff in dedicated facilities.
You'll choose from the following exercises to practise on the day:
- Crown preparation
- Veneer preparation
- Onlay preparation
- Temporary crowns
- Composite restorations
- Amalgam restorations
Who this course is for
This course is suitable for all general dental practitioners who've taken a break from work and would like to refresh their skills in popular clinical procedures.
You don't need to be GDC registered.
By the end of the course you should have gained confidence and refreshed your skills in the most common restorative procedures in general dentistry.
Structure and teaching
This is a skills revision course with no lecture component. You'll be under constant supervision with staff available to give advice and demonstrations.
CPD points and certificate
The course will give you 6.5 hours of verifiable CPD. You'll also get a certificate of attendance.
The fee is £420.
All Eastman teachers are experienced professionals. You’ll be asked to submit written feedback via a questionnaire at the end of the course, which is used to monitor the course's quality of teaching and value for money.

Dr Erika Spyer graduated from Colegio Odontologico Colombiano in Bogotá, Colombia in 2005 as a dentist. She then joined UCL Eastman Dental Institute at the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Department in 2008 where she has participated in numerous research projects and has been involved in teaching at a postgraduate level.
She re-qualified as a dentist in the UK by successfully completing her Overseas Registration Examination (ORE) in 2012 and also obtained the Diploma of Membership of the Joint Dental Faculties (MJDF) at the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2014.
In 2014, she was appointed as an Honorary Senior Clinical Teaching Fellow at the UCL Eastman Dental Institute where she leads and lectures on courses directed to overseas dentists willing to practice in the UK.
Erika completed the PG Certificate in Advanced Aesthetic Dentistry at UCL Eastman dental Institute in 2015.
Erika currently divides her week between teaching and private clinical practice in London. Her areas of interest are: Aesthetic Dentistry, Minimal Invasive Dentistry and Restorative Dentistry.
