Biography

Transatlantic slave-owner, of Bath when making his will in 1768 and dying in Barbados in July or August 1776 according to the attestation of his will.

  1. Will of Richard Salter of Bath [made in 1768 with a codicil of 1774] proved 11/09/1777. He left his estates on Barbados in trust (his trustee was Richard Wiltshire of Barbados), first to secure a legacy of £1500 to his niece Phillipa Ellliot Holder provided she outlived her husband, and then to his wife Margaret Salter and then to their niece Margaret Salter Dehany, wife of Philip Dehany, and then to Margaret Salter Dehany's daughter Mary Salter Dehany.
